The beginning of a new time (some time ago)

This marks the beginning of a new time for an old, tired drift car. I pestered Pat for a long time to fix the car so I could see him out driving again, until eventually we ended up settling on a price for the car. I was in the market for something new to get me out of the AE86, a car I had a really bad wreck in just six months prior. This is what I was looking for in a new car, something that was tried-and-true and it didn’t need a ton of work to get going again. We drained the tank, had the injectors rebuilt, and then replaced the lifters again and the car was on its way to its new home. The car came complementary with broken aero, broken tail lights, a clicking CV, and dry rotted tires. A real bonus these days.

After buying the car, I drove it ever day, that way I could work out any of the bugs. I only had a few small issues and it was ready to get back on the track with a few new parts. The last time the RX7 was on the dyno it made 407HP, pretty substantial compared to my 170HP AE86. The first event went as well as anybody could have expected. There was a lot of learning gaps in switching to the new chassis, but in the end my night would be cut short due to the clicking CV eventually exploding.
