Engine failure and rebuild

I don’t even know where to start with this. I still can’t explain what happened. In the end there was three holes in the block, a piston crammed through the side of the oil pan, and a cylinder wall blown out. Main bearings, ok. Connecting rod bearings, ok. Connecting rod, ok. Wrist pin, broken in half. Piston, in the side of the oil pan. Valves, smashed. heart, big sad.

It took me awhile to find a replacement engine, but I ended up finding two. I ordered up Supertech 10.6:1 pistons, Manley H beam rods, and ACL race bearings. Once the parts showed up, I took everything down to the machine shop and had the block hot tanked, bored .040, line honed, decked, and everything measured.

From there we were ready for assembly. Some friends came over and we got busy getting everything pieced back together. After a long night of building, we had a completed engine again. The next day I wasted no time and got the engine back in the car so I could finish assembling the engine bay, my tune date was coming up quick.

I dropped the car off at UMS tuning to get retuned to compensate for changing to higher compression pistons. The car ended up breaking the throttle body shaft on the dyno and they removed the intake manifold to insure the screws didn’t get sucked in. The car made 383HP and 290TQ on a Dynapack at 22PSI.

Dual window mod
Lots of extra cooling going on here.
More room for oil changes too.
Shiny bits.
