I was unlucky enough to have somebody hit me at a late night drift event. It damaged the front bumper, front fender, headlight assembly, hood, windshield, front fender support, oil cooler bracket, inner tie rod, and an outer lip on the Panasport.
I had been wanting to change up some of the aero anyways, so it was the perfect time for a change. I decided on a Dmax style hood, OEM front fenders, a fresh BN style kit, and a new color. I went to my local paint shop and found what I was looking for, victory red. At this point I had never done extensive body work, or paint work. I knew this project was going to be a massive undertaking, and it sure was! I started off with removing all the damaged panels and then assessing other areas of the car that needed body work. The rear quarter panels had seen significant damage in previous years when George piloted the car, so I knew those would need some more work to make everything fit nicely.
Countless hours were put into the body work and paint prep. Once I was finally happy with the way everything fit, I began prepping everything for paint. I decided to paint the jambs as well, the jambs were white and could be seen while the hatch was closed. The whole process took me about a week to complete, which I don’t think is too bad considering is was my first time painting a car. I am beyond happy with it and I learned how to do it for the future. Breaking body kits is inevitable at this height.
Thank you to my friends that either helped, or offered advice during this. They helped me get set up with the right tools, and the best ways to go about doing it all.
